Nancy paints the world around her—from urban landscapes to the High Sierras, but the interpretation comes from within. She goes beyond reporting what can be seen and allows the viewer's imagination to make personal discoveries. Her work is contemporary using layers of watercolor, and a variety of mixed media to convey a relationship between subjects and their environment. Large blocky figures of bears are featured prominently in the current series. Past series have included subjects as diverse as the human figure, trucks, her daughters, Sierra landscapes, and small bears. A concurrent series is small, jewel like watermedia works on gold acrylic gesso. Nancy's time is shared between the mountains of Ebbetts Pass, California where she and her husband have a year-round cabin and Los Altos in the bay area. Her work can be seen at www.viewpointsgallery.com, Los Altos, and in summer shows in Bear Valley and Calaveras Big Trees State Park with www.artsofbearvalley.com. Art Education Two undergraduate years at UCLA in the School of Fine Arts before transferring to San Francisco State and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. After graduation Community College classes and workshops furthered her art education which will always continue. There is so much to learn. Awards
